Evidence remains insufficient to determine if marijuana use has any impact -- good or bad -- on cardiovascular disease risk, researchers stated.









In a systematic review of 24 observational studies, six suggested a metabolic benefit associated with marijuana use, but all six were cross sectional. A single prospective cohort study with a more robust analytic design found no evidence of a metabolic benefit. For all but one risk factor or outcome evaluated, the quality of evidence was rated as "insufficient," according to Divya Ravi, MD, MPH, of the Wright Center for Graduate Education in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and colleagues......
