March 18, 2018If the average person were to read any one of the three Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) reports on the impact of cannabis legalization on communities in Colorado, they would think that the sky is falling concerning cannabis. What was apparent to cannabis activists, and those with any understanding of what constitutes valid evidence, was that the reports are completely skewed to show negative impacts. They rely on newspaper accounts, bad statistics, and law enforcement assumptions to reach their skewed conclusions. You can read the HIDTAs most recent report here.









Luckily, the leaders in Colorado were forward thinking enough to finance more unbiased organizations to conduct realand actually scientific and validresearch into what the true impacts of cannabis legalization have been. Colorado State UniversityPueblo conducted compelling research recently and released a 100 page study with their conclusions. The study occurred during 2017 and examined only Pueblo County, which also commissioned it. According to CSU, they studied the social impact of legalized cannabis and examined many areas.....

A study of one Colorado county has found cannabis provides a great economic benefit, even with the challenges it presents for social services and law enforcement.The study, done by the Institute of Cannabis Research at Colorado State University-Pueblo, dispels some of the concerns surrounding the legalization of marijuana.









Overall, embracing the legal cannabis industry resulted in $35 million for Pueblo County in 2016, according to the study. That includes about $58 million in positive economic impact minus the $23 million spent by the county on marijuana-related programs.









Migrating to Colorado?



One of the persistent criticisms of legalized marijuana in Colorado is that it will attract people from all around the nation looking for legal pot. Many fear homeless people will especially take advantage of the situation, researchers said.....
